Did you ever decide to make a change in your life? A change that you knew was required and just at that moment, life seems to start throwing rocks at you to prevent you from implementing that change?
As we seek to live a balanced life, this new lifestyle will be challenged.
If you read my last blog and agreed that you needed to make some changes, but up to this time you are unable to start, or things keep coming up, or you forgot because of all the distractions life keeps throwing at you, don’t worry – life happens.
Comfort Zone

Many of us are trying to change, but things keep happening to pull us back into that old way called the “comfort zone” which is no longer that comfortable.
This is all part of the journey; don’t be afraid, it’s part of the process. Let me simplify it with this example; if you can ride a bike, try and remember when you couldn’t.
You might have been a child and riding a bike was something you wanted to do because all your friends were riding, so you just had to ride.
Balanced Life

Do you remember how scared and excited you felt when you got on a bike for the very first time? Did you fall? I did. Many times. Did you get back on? Of course you did. It was challenging back then for you, but you didn’t give up.
You kept on trying until you were able to ride. Breakthrough! You did it, you got your balance! Initially, it was hard – you fell a few times, but you got back up.
Now you are enjoying the wind on your face as you are riding with your friends; success!
Even though you have not ridden for some years now, if you got on a bike you would still be able to ride. Why? Because you have that balance; it was about balance then, and it’s about balance now.
A balanced life is the goal.
Peace Of Mind

There are many benefits to gain from living a balanced life and one such benefit is peace of mind.
Peace of mind in your spiritual life, peace of mind in your family life, and peace of mind in your business life. Can it be accomplished? Yes, it can!
We need to want it as much as we wanted to ride that bike; so if we fall/fail, we need to get back on track quickly. For most of us, 2020 was very challenging as a result of Covid-19, and it continues for lots of us.
Hitting Targets

Last week I shared on the importance of a Vision and Mission statement relative to organizations; however, we are individuals.
So why am I comparing individuals with companies? Well, they are both after the same thing – accomplishing goals, and one is a lot more strategic than the other.
As individuals, we are constantly trying to hit targets, just like organizations. Think about it; who runs these organizations? People!
Some people are able to lead successful companies, but when it comes to their family and spiritual life, there’s much left to be desired.
Value System

Come on, I can hear your thoughts while I’m writing this; you are saying there are companies that look good from the outside but internally there are problems.
You are quite right and this speaks to Spirituality, because if our value system is not wired right there will be problems in our business life and our family life.
So sometimes it’s our value system, and sometimes our efforts are not equally shared; most of the time business takes all of our energy. Once this happens we are too tired to do anything else.
Spiritual Life

There are many benefits to be gained from living a balanced life, starting with our spiritual life. I know when it comes to this area some may not see spirituality the way I do, because of Who I believe in, Jesus Christ. He is my foundation and I am guided by His teachings.
It is important for us to have a foundation. A value system for our lives. A framework. For some of us, this value system comes from the spiritual foundation we received as a child and we held on to it, while for others it came over time.
As adults, it’s our value system, our framework which guides the decisions we make in our spiritual, family, and business life.
Family Life

When it comes to our family life, a balanced life can certainly improve our physical health. We may now have enough time to exercise and this new balance can bring the family closer together.
As a result, we may now be able to play with our children. Ironically, social distancing can also bring us closer together as a family.
What about spouse time, date night, or date day? We may have more time for a proper vacation or just quality family time together.
Fathers, especially those with young children; they need us today as much as we needed our fathers when we were their age. Let’s do all that we can to enjoy “now/today”, so when we look back there will be no regrets.
Business Life

When it comes to our business life, as an employer or an employee, we may function better in our careers if the two other areas are balanced.
The way we interact with our colleagues at work, and our clients may improve because we are now different; we have a more holistic approach to life. We are balanced.
Our minds will be in a better place to come up with bright new ideas to build our business, or if you are an employee you may perform better, resulting in you being personally satisfied and even upward movement.

Remember; life is fluid. Every day we will be faced with new challenges. The way we choose to deal with these challenges will depend on our framework, our SFB.
As time goes on, we may need to do some tweaking in order for us to stay on track. The changes we make now will positively impact our lives tomorrow in the area of Spirituality, Family, and Business.
Balance is very important, and when it comes to our lives, I believe it’s the most important area of life. We can all accomplish a balanced life if we truly want it. Enjoy the journey.
