A Review of Previous Post

In my first blog for this year, we looked at “How to Protect your Business and Income In a Pandemic”.  I highlighted people in Trinidad who started their online business during the height of the pandemic and they continue building their business.

We also looked at the importance of mental preparation and I will say this; sometimes you are just not prepared to face life’s challenges.  No one was prepared for 2020 – that much is clear.

Next, we explored the topic “How to Start an Online Marketing Business Now”.

Here, the emphasis was on starting now.  I highlighted a few big names in the Digital Marketing Industry, together with some books you can read to get started.

In addition, we answered the question, “Why you should start now” and we addressed concerns you may have.

Websites and Social Media

We said you do not need a website to get started – you can use social media such as Facebook and Instagram; there are people doing business on YouTube, Twitter, etc.

Additionally, we spoke about lead generation and how important it is for you to have a proper list for your leads, your clients. For example, if you have a skill or hobby you are very good at, you may be sitting on a gold mine.

Hobby To Online Business

I know how you are feeling; it’s like you just got to the beach on a hot sunny day and the water looks so inviting, but you are going through that period of uncertainty wondering how cold it is, so you use the tip of your toes to test the water instead of jumping right in.

Fear

Not surprisingly, there are a few reasons why you may still only be thinking about starting, even after you have seen some of your friends and family members take the plunge.

The most common reason is FEAR.  You may be afraid of starting because it’s something new to you and you don’t know what to expect.

If that’s what you are feeling then consider the fact that it may be doubt and not fear.

As a result of Covid-19, some may not be working but they are still afraid of starting a new journey.  As you read, think about where you are now and whether or not you are satisfied.

Many other people in the past have started businesses based on a hobby they felt passionately about; you, too, can be such a person.

Fortunately, there is so much information and lots of resources out there today to help us along the way.

If you have questions, Google it or YouTube it.  In fact, these days people are sharing their secrets; there are lots of testimonies out there to help you get started with your online business.

Bring Your Vision to Life

If you are reading this in your home or at your office, consider that where you are right now was once dirt and trees.

At some point in time, someone came along with a vision of a building being there.  They had an idea.  Then they shared their idea with an Architect who then drew a plan, and in time the structure was built.

Simply put, they followed a process.  

All you need to do once you want to start your business is decide on a niche market and use Google Trends to help you research the business you want to start.

Stop Thinking and Start

Stop thinking and start planning.  At the start of 2021, you probably set in your mind that this year you were going to start.

If you have not started yet, start now!  I strongly advise you to read this article which will help you to make an informed structured decision as you bring your online business to life.

Additionally, there are ways for you to monetize your site, such as running ads, affiliate marketing, and many more.

Discipline and Patience

Discipline and patience are two very important ingredients you need to pay special attention to because revenue may not come as fast as you want it to; therefore, you need to be patient and very disciplined as you build.

Whether you start a website or you just use social media, you need to make your presence known; you need to post every week on your website and every day on social media.

Ask your friends and family to share your content – this means you will need to research in order for you to share content with value.

Conclusion

What you put in is what you will get out of it; therefore you need to research.  After you have done the research, you’ll need to decide quickly; don’t hesitate.

Next, you need to come up with an action plan.  Finally, you need to implement your plan.  Keep laser-focused as you build your online business, and the vision will become clearer with each day that goes by.  Research! Decide! Plan! Execute! Now!
