Mothers – they go through so much for their children and because of that maternal instinct they will even do it for other children. They mean a lot to us and they are the ones who set the initial foundation for us. Of course, fathers also have a part to play in our upbringing.
We have celebrated another Mother’s day and I’m sure you helped your mom enjoy her day. Now let’s look at “the many hats of mothers and why we love her so”.
This is a follow-up to our previous article: “Seven Qualities Of A Good Mother“.
Mothers are Playmates
When we were formed in our mommy’s tummy, she was our first playmate and after birth, she continued to be there for us. I know some lost their mom over the last year and some even before. For them, this time may be a reminder of their loss.
Remember the times they played with you, laughed with you, cried with you, and even disciplined you.
Mothers are Teachers
Who were our first teachers? That’s right; Mommy. She is the one who started the teaching, and schoolteachers came after.
Now my children and wife are always at it when doing their homework. There are times when she tries to help my son with his homework and he says, “that’s not how Miss showed us in class”. However, when we speak with the teacher in our quarterly parent-teacher meeting she says she keeps telling them there is always more than one way to solve a problem (one of the many reasons why teamwork with parents, teachers, and students for online learning is important).
Even after we leave school and begin our adult lives, our mothers continue to share their wisdom, drawing upon their own experiences whenever they can.
Multitaskers
How are they able to do it? That ability to do so many things while taking care of the children. I especially admire those single mothers; having to work and handle the responsibilities of a mother. You all are not just multitaskers, you all are super moms.
They Make Time For Us
It seems as though somehow they always find time even though they have lots to do. A mother will sacrifice her own needs for her children. They do it to make sure their children are okay. My mom is one of those moms; I remember all the things she did for us and even now, she will go out of her way for her children. We shouldn’t be too busy for our moms.
Loving
As a man, let me share this; if I’m sick, I want my mother. As a child, if you hurt your hand and mommy kisses the area, didn’t it feel better? They have that touch – it’s the touch of love. They just can make everything right.
Their love for us wants to make sure we are good at all times; they love us unconditionally. When you get a hug from your mom it’s the most comforting hug ever. Give her one today, she deserves it.
Happy for their Loved Ones
They always want the best for us and when we succeed, they succeed. When we are happy, they are happy. One of the joys of their heart is to see their child graduate from college, get a new job, walk down the aisle and have children of their own.
Cherish
We need to cherish our mom. Some women are not natural mothers (they didn’t give birth), but they are mothers in every other sense of the word. Sometimes it’s an aunt or a cousin who can’t have children and as a result of a situation, they are called upon to become a mother. Cherish your mom, love her while you can.
Appreciated
After all, they have done and continue to do, we need to sometimes go out of our way to say thank you. Whenever you can you should show your appreciation to your mom, your wife, and whoever represents the word mother in your life.
Pampered
Everybody needs to be pampered, especially mothers. For all their labors of love, they need to be pampered and they deserve it and much more.
Grandmothers are mothers
Of course, some grandparents are placed in a situation where they act as parents/mothers for their grandchildren because of death or other issues. They were mothers before and they are mothers again.
Grandmother’s Joy
Some grandparents get to enjoy their grandchildren for a little while then pass them back to their parents. They have a special love for their grandchildren and they are usually not as strict as they were with us. The joy of a grandmother.
Capture the moments
Capturing the time spent with your mom or grandmother is important. The images you capture today with them are historic; they can be used to tell stories on the family tree in the future. Apart from your phone and computer, save them in places where you can easily access them.
Keep mother safe
As a result of the continued challenges of this pandemic, we need to keep vigilant when it comes to health, especially their health. We need to keep all our mothers safe; the great grandmothers, grandmothers, and mothers.
Conclusion
Our mom, our mother, is important, so show her love. The events of last year showed us we shouldn’t take life for granted. After what we have gone through and are still going through. We shouldn’t have to wait until May to recognize the importance of our mothers. Every day is Mother’s day.
